Did you name your Porsche? Have I gone too far?
As the title suggests, did you name your Porsche? Porsche in itself is already a beautiful name, but am I the only one to name my car?
I fear I am going to the nerdy side, and I might need an intervention. It's Friday night, there are girls texting me, but I am content to clean Amara's engine and I get the utmost pleasure doing it. (careful now, not that much pleasure). It's just me, my sweet sweet ride, a bottle of 12 yr aged Scotch, and some classic rock.
Btw, Amara is a german girl's name that means eternity. Is there anyone out there as nerdy as I am?

Never named a car. My wife and I refer to it as my car but now with the addition of a 996 turbo I get confused and sometimes catch my self saying my other car.

Never named a car and I've had a bunch. My first was in 1966, a '49 Studebaker convertible that I bought for $15.00 advertised for sale across from my High School. I drove it home, then told my parents.
I did name a motorcycle that was used for roadracing only, once. I named it Mindy after my shy and timid male Tabby cat that we thought was a female. My motorcycle was a small 600cc 4 cyl Yamaha FZ with a built motor, Dellorto carbs, Ohlins shock, and slicks. It reminded me of my cat because it was not a very aggressive ride compared to my 750 Superbike and an open classer I raced. I with 2 other riders did win a GTU 4 hour endurance roadrace with Mindy and I also won several sprint races over a 2-3 year season.

I have never named a car either...but my plate is in memory of my dad...ZAFTIG. He would always tell me as a kid to put some zaftig in to it...meaning put effort into what I do. There are other meanings to the word but I like this best.

It's good to hear there are a few other crazy people out there.
The rest of you are wannabes. Go ahead. You can do it. You know you want to. Name your baby. She's out there in the garage just waiting.

I named my yellow x50 cab Brunhilde. I'd just seen Wagner's Ring Series (yes, all 18 hours of it) and was suitably inspired by the operas.
