How can a car have only one name...?

Just recently when I was replacing my coolant resevoir (it's one of those "hated" Boxster S's where the resevoir is in the rear trunk), the coolant hose spring clip unattached itself from the pliers and transferred it clamping strength onto my index finger.... The car was immediately re-christened ahhh - You !@#$% B%^&* mangy thing.

And last year when lying full stretch on my back installing the new headers, one of them that was supposedly held in place by a single loosly screwed in bolt, wasn't. The beautifull looking stainless steel work of art thingy dropped down as I was looking up & admiring it and hit me plumb between the eyes....Broken specs, bruised forehead and blood nose. That day the cars name changed again to You Son of a B$#@^ Kraut mongrel piece of crap...

Just like us, they can be called many things over a lifespan.

To say it's just a "thing" in the garage, wow, why even own one? No passion at all.
I enjoy driving and the 4S in my garage does that exceptionally well, but not any better than another 4S.

The passion should come from what you do, not what you own; doing the latter only means you're creating your persona around some material possession.

It's not uncommon to name a car mine are The Widow formerly the Black Widow, The Yellow Bastard, 550 hp supercharged 1980 928. Hedi, street car after Hedi Klum, and an old girl friend. The Pimp Mobile, 2003 Yukon Denali c/w 22" chrome rims and a flame grill.

I swear some of you people caress your cars before giving them a goodnight kiss...losers.

Hey I'm kind of a wack job so all my P cars have names:

My wife '85 mint 911 euro coupe is Princess
My '85 911 targa is "stupid" or as she also calls it "the parts car"
Our 997C4s is "Chubby"
Finally my 996 track 911 coupe is "Crazy" for short " Crazy Bitxx")-named after my wife.

Hey it's fun being a wack job. We have other cars too, funny none of them have names.

I call them the 993 and the Turbo. My daughter calls the 993 "Mr. Tomato". Wife calls the Turbo "that thing" as in "GET THAT THING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY!"

Well for one I don't think PCA and other club apparel is in the same vain as the "OMGIHAVEAPORSCHENOWLOOKATMEEEEE" naming/caressing/humping your car before you go to bed nonsense.
