Default Need help locating Sport Classic II wheel

Hey guys, I'm looking for help locating one Sport Classic II wheel, 18x10, ET 65, to replace a wheel Fedex lost.

I bought 4 Sport Classic II wheels (with Diamondback tires mounted) off craigslist in Houston, and used Fedex to ship them to me. During transportation Fedex scratched/gouged the lip of all 4 wheels. I filed a claim, Fedex picked the wheels up and brought them to the local office for inspection. They returned 3 of them to me, but claimed the 4th wheel was lost. I bought insurance when these were shipped from Houston and have been paid enough money back to cover repair of the three wheels, with a couple hundred left over to buy a replacement wheel. Problem is I can't find a replacement wheel.

I found one at Detroit Wheel, but when they inspected it prior to shipping it to me they found out it was damaged, and don't have any others. I've checked Parts Heaven, 20th Street Auto Parts, Nineapart, Oklahoma Foreign, DC Automotive, PCA, and the Rennlist classified but came up empty. I was able to locate a new wheel at WheelEnhancement, but they're asking $1200--the same price I paid for all 4 wheels/tires.

So I'm stuck. I have 3 wheels that look brand new but can't use unless I locate a 4th wheel. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Bob

Try car-part.com. I was in a similar situation as you (one bent wheel on a car I bought). It took a while but I eventually got a really nice 18x10 sport design from a place in Oregon for a little over $200. Slim picking on the Sport Classic at the moment but I see a few places worth calling if you haven't seen all of these.

What kind of wheels are currently on your car that you are replacing?

One other (long shot) suggestion is a local company (in Oregon). Factory Wheel Outlet (503) 650-5388. They might have resources that could locate a replacement wheel.

FedEx damaged a family heirloom small piece of furniture I shipped in a custom made triple wall box by pushing it with a forklift. It was a major hassle but I bitched at them daily til I finally got ahold of someone up the ladder in Memphis, they were so overwhelmed & unorganized, they eventually sent me a check for more than I was asking for by refunding the shipping cost. FedEx damanged AND lost your wheel, make them replace it.

yes sorry about that story,a real bummer,if you want to pull the trigger you can order it from porsche,no guess work as to wether the wheel is straight and true, what kind of condition etc.just a brand new wheel,of course i would have to guess anywhere from 900 to 1000$ for the one,the reason i mention all of this is because i also was looking for 1 wheel(40th anniversary 5 spoke) very hard to find used........any way good luck

Thanks for all the suggestions--I'll check them out Monday.

The OEM 17" 10 spokes; I just had Dunlop Wintersports mounted to them.

Hell yeah--this isn't over. On top of damaging the wheels, then losing one, I was yelled at by a "customer service" rep because I let the pickup driver take the 4 wheels. Even though that's step #5 in their online claims process.

Thanks!

Appreciate it, but I'd still have 3 reconditioned wheels I can't use.

BTW, if anyone needs a wheel repaired I'd recommend Alloy Wheel Repair Specialists--they did a great job removing the gouges and scratches the Fedex gorillas put on the rims, and repainted the centers to factory spec. 3 wheels in 4 hours for $160 a wheel.

Update: I contacted the Fedex rep for the company I work for, and he was able to locate the "lost" wheel. Fedex delivered it to me a couple weeks ago--with new scratches. Alloy Wheel Repair reconditioned it and brought it back to me this morning; 2 1/2 months after buying them I finally have a complete set of wheels.

Congrats. Way too long but now it's done. Biggest job will be cleaning them. (I put on turbo twists for the winter and really enjoy the lower maintenance).
