Default Wheels from a 997

Hello -

I am interested to buy a set of tires/wheels local to me. While searching here, I see that the 5x130 bolt pattern will work for my 2003 996 C4S.

Are there any other fitment issues I might be aware of considering these are off a 997?

Tires are 265/40 R 18 and 235/40 R 18 purchased for winter use on my 2010 porsche 911. The wheels are 18" alloy wheels with 5 x 130 bolt patterns

Thanks!

It all comes down to offset - narrow body cars use different offset than wide body cars. Your 996 C4S is a widebody car.

I believe these would work with spacers in the back for your car, or just have a little sunken battleship look to them

I think your original C4S wheels look better than the 997 wheels but that just my opinion. I dont think those tire sizes are right either. The rears should be 295 / 30's right?

The OEM fitment for tires on a C4S rears are 295/30R18, for the 11' wide wheel, when you go down to the 10" wide for narrow body, or wide body winter use, you change the tire size to the 265

The man selling them sent me the following measurements below. Would this mean I need spacers in the back to avoid the sunken look? If yes, do you have a recommendation on the spacer width/depth and where to buy?

Not sure exactly how to measure them but the tread surface of the tires are about 8 to 8.5 inches front and 10+ inches in the back.

Thank you!

That is about right, you will get a sunken look since the OEM offset is about 43mm for narrowbody rears and the widebody you are looking for something 25-30mm in the rears. I personally run H & R spacers on my car and am quite pleased with them I would get spacers from them again. If I were in your position I would go for the H & R Traks spacer in a DR style in 18mm for an oem look

here is their chart

I dont know if spacers are ever a good idea, especially on a 177mph car.

Porsche does allow spacers in certain configurations...
