Default underbody paneling clip removal

Does anyone know how to remove these confounded clips that secure the underbody panels? Also some pics of the car on the lift just for fun.

66 views and no one knows how to get these things off...at least I am not alone. I'm going to have to call in the artillery on this one...

Blowtorch? Grenade? It looks like they would unclip using a flat blade screwdriver to spread them and then slide them off.

They are easily bent, and tabs can break off when removing. I consider them discartable / single use, and always have a few extra lying around.

Having said that, your problem when removing them basically becomes an act of not busting the plastic panel they secure.

This works well:

I used a screwdriver. But it appears like the upholstery tool could work as well.

I'll tell you they are a pain in the a$$ to remove.

So far Road Atlanta seems like the best option. Followed shortly by hand grenade.

Sorry to revive this old thread, but does anyone know the part number of the clips referenced in this thread or where I can buy a replacement one? My undercarriage is missing one. I'm thinking the dealer may be the best option.

You should be able to find the clips and more on this website/page.
Check the model and year to be certain it's what you want.

The best way I have found it to use a flat blade screwdriver to push the outside edge tabs inward (I think) to clear the place where they latch to the car and then pry down in the center of the clip to push it off the car. Its a two handed operation. You should figure out the exact direction and what works best once you start prying things around.
As was noted above, they tend to break coming off and it's good to have a few around. They are inexpensive.
