Silk, does this work on a 996.2 gen? I know the 996.1 can be accessed.

This wouldn't be a permanent gauge but i guess it could be useful for a spot check, bluetooth to my phone.

Skip, the YouTube didn't say if .1.or .2 And only a spot check.

If so, looks like a pretty good diagnostic tool. Except not bluetooth.

I see it is available as Easy Diag 3.0 or x431 but at a 250-350 price tag.

That is a prototype I built years ago using a single din blank radio face plate, a digital display, and an Arduino. Three wire hook-up (pos neg and signal), one wire going all the way to the DME taps straight in to the oil temp sensor wire.

I wrote an elaborate computer code using the Steinhart-Hart Equation and a B-Curve coefficient for thermisters. I had never written computer code before, so there was a learning curve and a big rabbit hole I had to enter several times to get it to work..I felt like I had went 6 rounds with Mohamed Ali when I was done. Unfortunately I had a software crash and lost the code a few months later, so this is the only example prototype that is in Sally..
