Default So you bought a 03 C4S Now what?

So in a recent post I announced that I just took delivery of a 03 C4S and had to leave for 10 days on business. Well I am at LAX in between flights with 14 hours of travel ahead of me and thought I would ask for help so I had something to look forward to upon my return.

I have already read the things you should know about your 996 (very helpful by the way). I can tell my car already has a short throw shifter and aftermarket SS exhaust but wanted to know if there are any JDIs or just do it items that make owning a 996 more enjoyable?

Ditch the pumpkins (orange side markers) first thing if that photo I saw in a previous post was your car. They could be waiting for you when you return. Easy mod, high impact and satisfaction, low $$$. Really will clean up the look on that car.

I think it depends on how you use your 996. If it's a daily driver, then you might enjoy an upgrade to a new double-DIN stereo system that has modern features like Bluetooth, iPod connectivity, up to date navigation, Pandora, etc. If it's a "fun only" car or a track car, then you might enjoy suspension upgrades, racing pedals, etc. In either case, new wheels are always a good mod to consider.

Edit: I see in your avatar that you already have new wheels, so you're covered there!

JDI=Just Drive It

I agree that a Double Din is a great start for your interior. If you like your SS exhaust, great, otherwise Fister D's for sure. Welcome!

Get a double din deck, glad I did, looks a lot cleaner than the pop out single din screens, nav is handy, and factory porsche audio is nothing to brag about. Personally I have a pioneer deck which you can change the back lighting color which is nice so you can match the factory instrument cluster colors.

Really though I an just waiting for Dynavin to release a deck for Porsche for the ultimate OEM look with the Android operating system.

Other wise as others have said just drive it, have fun with it, maybe if you can find some way to personalize it, make it your own etc.

Depending on how you like or dislike the initial tip-in of the throttle response, you may want to consider adding the SprintBooster.

look for "events" to enter... AutoX and others. These are the ways to enjoy a new purchase. We are lucky to have a great region of the PCA out here. Where ever you happen to park, there is probably a club near by. In addition to this forum, they are a great source of camaraderie, and information.

Oh, and please... drive that beauty.

You need to buy the book "996 Essential Companion". It's a must have for every want to be owner or owner. It has most likely everything you could ever want to know about the 996. As a bonus it has 6 or 7 pics of my previous 996 Cab.

All the money you intend spending on mods why not just put towards a later model Porsche?

My recommendation is keep as original as possible (including the pumpkins).
Use any cash for gas
