Default Cab roof problem

Hi guys, well two days two problems....yesterday somebody smacked the front of my car in the parking lot - I know who did it so I'll work that one but today I've got a problem with my cab top. The roof closed but when the locking hook goes to set it doesn't stop...it appears to lock in, then unlocks then locks etc....I can stop the process by taking my finger off the button - everything looks right but the rear windows won't come up and the roof open light stays on. Any ideas?

Okay, this may be the problem - https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...-or-motor.html

I can close the back windows by manually pressing the switch the hook goes into, but maybe the switch just doesn't get pressed by the hook now that this plastic cover is gone....Off to the dealer tomorrow!

The microswitch for the hook closed position must not work. The computer never thinks the Cab is locked therefore the rear windows never close. Also, the latch motor only moves in one direction and now is not stopping, hence the unlocking.

I could stick my finger to trip the microswitch and roll the windows up and down so it's good. I think the cover on the hook is damaged - new one on the way, hopefully as soon as tomorrow!

It was indeed the hook latch cover a new one was about 11 bucks and although it appears to need disassembly of the latch mechanism to put the cover through a pin, the better way to do it is to cut a couple of access slots in the eye of the cover and slide it over the pin and glue the whole works together.

Nice to have a problem solved easy!

Thats very good to know for future referance. Mine does that at the start of the top down season but seems to rectify the problem itself after a few tries. The plastic covers is obviously worn and will need replacing if the problem persists. Thanks.
