Default Millennium 996 values

One popped up near me. The guy is asking an insane price, but I think he knows it. Original Owner with just 8,000 miles and new tires.

So what is one of these worth? KBB says $35K retail, $31K private Party perfect condition.

Both values seem high to me as you can get a lower mileaged 4S or 40th for that kind of coin.

Interested in your feedback so I have ammo to bargain. Thanks.

Here is the ad: http://lasvegas.craigslist.org/cto/3113001938.html

When choosing on the poll rember that this car is one mile from my house so I don't have to pay to ship it or travel to look at it.

For a 2000 with 8k miles $22-23k tops.. Doesn't matter if it's a special edition.. For $40k your in 996 turbo territory... Owner will be sitting on that car for a while...

Hard to say without PPI because at only 8000 miles there could be issues due to not driving it much.

I am not normally concerned about cars having too few miles but I do think that's just too low. It's sat too much. I thus almost think the miles lower the price a little.

If you are not in any hurry, I think the next Excellence mag, due out shortly, will have a full report on the 996s' values. Not definative, but a decent amount of research to use as a good starting point. Also, do you have any info on the vehicle other than simply mileage? Was RMS replaced, IMS replaced, yada, yada, yada.......

Keep in mind it is just a highly optioned C4 with natural leather and a fabulous viola paint. It is "rare" as it is a numbered release with those options. Note sure, but i think it just has the NA 3.4L ? 8K miles is an issue for sure if you plan on it being a DD.... for 40+ i would go turbo and not look back. This ione is a garage queen.

Are all Milleniums C4's? I do not see anyway to tell in the ad that it is not a C2.

Depnds on what you want it for. As a garage queen that you think has long term collectibility, it might be worth a premium. If you want to spend 40k on a driver, get a TT and have a blast.

I sold mine last year for 23K, it had 135K miles but didn't show it at all. The interior pieces suck to find in the factory wood grain, I swapped all mine out with black.

Good luck with getting a low mileage C4S in perfect condition for $31K. But, hey, if you can find it, I'd go with the C4S over the ME (but that's just me)...same with the "40K TT."

What I meant was for his asking price of $40K + you could be in a low mileaged (under 30K miles) C4S or 40th. What was added is you could step into a turbo too.

Got it. Yeah, no way you can step into a low mileage TT in perfect condition at $40K. If anyone is selling such an animal please send me a PM at your convenience.

I agree with respect to the C4S pricing. I'm not sure even the 40th commands that much of a premium but I honestly haven't watched the prices on that segment as closely. I agree with you, however, that $40K seems a bit high for a '00 ME. I could see around $30K maybe unless they command more of a premium than I am aware of. I'm kind of on the fence about the low mileage comments because I typically put a premium on it but I might lean in that direction on a '00, too. It's really not a lot of mileage and these cars truly don't like to sit. As one dealer said, "they get fat and lazy." The current owner clearly didn't drive it much and if they're also in Vegas then it's not because they stored it during the winters.

I'd offer $25K and see what the seller says. If he tells you to pound sand but doesn't hang up on you then ask him what he realistically wants for it. If he hangs up then he's probably not going to budge much off of the $40K. It might take years but if he's patient he'll probably find someone to pay for it. The one thing I'll say about these cars is that some people lust after them so long they lose perspective of the market. Also, most buyers don't visit these boards and ask questions...which is bad for them and good for sellers.

Here are some TTs for 45-50K, and this is in Canada where pickings are slim. Nothing in the low 40's though.

Most of those cars have upwards of 60K miles on them and, as you pointed out, they're priced in the upper $40K range. That doesn't qualify as low mileage or "$40K". And, I still question the condition of any low mileage TT priced in $40s unless the buyer is just trying to dump their car.

Here is one. It's in Vegas too and appears really nice.
