I tow a Trailex open with my 2010 GTS. Smooth and fast when I news it to be. Also open doesn't provide cover but you're in and out quicker at the paddock

I just started towing my 996 on a Featherlite open trailer behind my BMW X5 4.8 (see pic) ... and so far, so good. I know a big diesel pickup would be preferable but this is what I've got and it seems to be working. I don't plan to climb any mountain passes soon though. I do maybe 7-10 track days per year so I'm not so heavy duty.

I notice you use the strap through the wheel tiedown method. Does this do any chafing or scratching of your wheels?

I sprung for a (nearly $300) Mac's tiedown kit which includes thick fleece sleeves for the wheel loops -- seemed extravagant at the time but I know now it's worth every penny. Highly recommend.
