Default Power Loss guesses?

Had my '01 996 C2 at the track this weekend and experienced a growing power loss. I'm taking suggestions. No prize money though. 68K miles.

1) Initially full throttle had a flat spot in power starting around 6400 to 6700.
Then OK up to redline.
2) My check engine light has been on for a year. O2 sensor. Never blinking.
3) Power started falling off more dramatically. Can barely pull a Boxster or Mini
on the the straight. After a few seconds of pull, CEL starts blinking. No
engine stumbling, just low on power.
Get to the next straight and CEL is not blinking again.
Same deal after a few seconds of pull.
4) Time to quit. Drove car home w/ no issues.

Had it checked today and a bunch of O2 codes and heater issues as expected but had bunch of #6 cylinder misfires. Mechanic said the blinking CEL is the misfire causing possible damage to the cats. He disabled the #6 injector and
ran poorly. Back on and it ran OK again. He suggested we start w/ the coil packs.

So that's the facts.
We'll see...

What code is the CEL throwing. You said O2 sensor, but can you be a little more specific? It could be anything from the above suggestions to a plugged cat.

plugged up cats will cause loss up hp but it does take very clogged up cats.
