Default Nav Question

Has anyone added an OEM Nav to a 2004 996? I have a used one I can purchase pretty reasonably. Also - does this give any additional aux inputs? I have the Bose system currently - curious if this would be plug and play?

I have the 2004 nav system, but was told that it is out of date (by a bit) and they won't be updating it anytime soon. Also, I understand that it is not plug and play with iPod as it is a different system than more modern units.

I have to use old-fashioned CDs to get my playlists into the car... ha ha.

Aftermarket units WAY better. 2004 technology is just that. And there' s work to do on the dealer side to get the OEM nav unit integrated.

ah well - will hold off on this - I am doing the garage door opener mod using a homelink code rolling unit and figured I could do this at the same time - while I had the dash apart. I will just move the climate controls to be 'ready'. Any recs on what after market units to look at?

Hey Otto,

I am looking for a OEM Nav system. If you pass on the deal, could you let me know the details?

Thanks,

Alin

How does one get around the radio's "security" feature? .. the one that deactivates the radio (?) because it thinks it is being stolen

Once the OEM deck is gone, so is that issue. However, my Pioneer has a password if the unit is ever removed. I had a new bezel retrofit done and almost forgot the code. I was locked out of my radio for about an hour. Thank goodness I remembered it, otherwise it would have to be shipped back to Pioneer to unlock.
