Most likely you have a burned out element. They are laid in and can be replaced if you're comfortable taking a seat apart.
Start by checking the resistance on the heating elements. If you find one with an open circuit you have your culprit. There's one element in the back portion and one in the bottom portion.

When my heater wasn't working I found through research that many times it could be the relay under the seat. If the relay is good, then the element is most likely shot, like mine was.

C four s, did you find the answer to your problem?
My 996 recently developed a problem where when I press the heated seat button on the drivers seat the light turns red and immediately turns off.
I'm going to try taking the seat off and replacing the relay, but curious to know your final fix.

I recently had my drivers seat redone, new foam, cradle etc. this happened to me only to find the heated seat connector wasn't completely seated back in the harness. All the explanations come to the same conclusion.....if the light goes off immediately there is some sort of break in the current.
