Default Wheel Fitment on a 1999 996 Carrera 4

I own a 1999 996 Carrera 4 Cabriolet fitted with 17" stock wheels.

I have a set of 18" Carrera IV wheels from a 997.2 of the following sizes:
Front: 8 x 18 et57 235 40 r18
Rear: 10.5 x 18 et60 265 40 r18

Can someone tell me if these wheels/tires will fit on my 1999 Carrera 4 without modification?

Thanks,
Gil

The wheels will fit no problems with width and offset you provided. Your front's may look a little sunk in and spacers will provide better looks.
The only problem I see is tires. 997's have taller rear tires. The 996's have 265/35/18 rear tires.
Being a C4, your F/R ratio is a little over 3.5% different which would be my concern. Buy them and get new rears with 265 35 18 or even go 295 30 18 which would be better on a 10.5 inch rim

I ran 235/40-18 on 8x18 50et and 265/40-18 on 10x18 65et for several years. But with the 60et and 10.5 rears you could have a rubbing problem.

Doug,
I wonder if we used the 35 or 30 series that geetee suggests if the rubbing would be mitigated? I used these Carrera IV wheels on my 928 and did have to roll the rear wheel wells, and was hoping to avoid that on the 911 C4.

By the way, I have seen conflicting answers on Rennlist about whether my 1999 C4 Cabriolet is a narrow or wide body. Comments?

Trust me it's a narrowbody... widebody did not appear on the 996 C4 until the 996 C4S which is themed on the widebody 996 TT. There's not even a stranger things have happened possibility that it can be a 996 C4 widebody unless it is a C4S- which was NOT made in 1999.

Talking New Tires/Wheels on 996 with Photos

GEETEE,

You were right-on. I took the Carrera IV wheels off of my 928S and put them on my 996 C4. In bought new tires while I was at it.

Front: 8 x 18 et57 225 40 ZR18
Rear: 10.5 x 18 et60 285 30 ZR18

On the 928S I had to roll the rear fenders; on the 996 all fit perfectly. The offsets with the tire sizes I used left perfect proportions front and rear. Nice aggressive look with the wide tires.

Thanks for the input,
Gil

Default the same car - ish the same wheels

Hi

I was wondering if the original tires were actually ok? I am thinking about getting these exact wheels for my 996 c2, they will have winter tyres on them but the rears are 265/40/18

thanks for any advice
