Default Clutch switch bypass issues,

I have some questions relating to the clutch switch hack, I taped my switch up and I liked the way the car felt, then I noticed that the cruise stopped working, so I re-fitted the switch and still no cruise, in the end I disconnected the battery and it seems to be working again. One thing that I am questioning is how the switch works as on my cay when fitted, the clutch pedal just touches it and doesn’t actuate it at all?.
Did any of you guys manage to bypass the switch and still keep the cruise working?

The sensor for the cruise control is separate from the sensor for the starter. I used a zip tie on the starter sensor years ago so that I don't have to depress the clutch pedal to start the car and it never had any impact on the cruise control.
