So I started reading this thread as a bit of a joke but y'know I"m pissed off a bit too. Fer crisesakes, they're ALL good. Now I'm biased as well since I've got one but the difference and upgrade from my 930 to this one is stunning. I sat in a 993 the other day (to look at that stereo upgrade) and was immediately taken back in time to a much more minimalist era. Bad? No. Not one bit, but I do prefer my car over the older ones. Pissed at PCA? Hell yes, including the response from them. As a representative they should know better. Question is, is this worth cancelling my membership over?
Oh, and I'll take a shirt too.....

It's just a bit refreshing to see some variant of the 911 being treated like the red-headed stepchild of the Porsche world normally reserved for the 928

Three Wheelin'
IIRC a couple months ago, Porsche AG sent out a promotional item for the 991 intro that had those very profiles on clear mylar (or whatever) on a base that resembled a business card holder with lots of dividers. Viewed from the front at eye level, you saw those same red profiles, one on each "card". The profiles were exactly the same ones used on the "offending" T-shirt, including the windowless 997. And no 996 prophile.
So first, I hope the CPA Region has written permission from Porsche AG for that T-shirt because the profiles are copywrited.
Second, the dufus who made the shirt proably got the profiles from the desk weights PAG/PCNA sent out. No more, no less.
So before we get too upset with CPA Region, remember that it is Porsche AG that is disavowing any knowlege of the 996.

Anyway this whole thing is pretty stupid - I think the stupidity started as a bad T shirt design but now it's about the flippant attitude of the CPA region president who I am certain had to approve the T shirt design anyway - and who seems to disregard a very large percentage of his membership base.

The promotional item you're talking about does list the 996 - as stated before it's the 1998 car (the year the 996 was introduced in Europe). And no, Porsche AG isn't the one disavowing....Look at all the 991 promotional material and videos and you'll see they prominently include the 996...

A couple of weeks ago, I was getting gas after washing and waxing the car. A 30 something guy in a G37 at the next pump.
G37 guy: Wow. The new 911 looks better in real life that the pictures. (obviously not a Pcar afficianado)
Me: I hate to break it to you, but this car is 8 years old. It's 2 generations ago.
G37 guy: No ****. It's still beautiful.
The 996 will get it's due one day.

I remember the old days when people thought the 964 was "bastard child' That passed.
I also had many 944's, People used to call it the "Poor mans Porsche" I had a 911 as well but totally preferred the 951 day to day.
Who cares....

If I was a member of that chapter, I might feel slighted.
No club, Lone Wolf
My '04 996 Turbo Cab does it for me. No apologies, no other road going P car would make me enjoy the experience any more. A close second may be a 904 @ > $1M but I think I may tire of the ride.
