Thumbs down 996 a real 911? Screw Hershey Swap Meet!!!

I guess the 996 isn't a real 911 after all. Check out this years official Hershey swap-meet shirt.

I for one am boycotting this years Hershey swap-meet. That will show them!!!

I can't believe they show the 901 on the shirt and not the 996. Oh well, fu*k em!!!

They probably figured the 996 and the 997 were so close that they'd only put one on the shirt. It's still stupid - they should have taken the 901 off and put the 996 on.

The 996 was the real fundamental design change, the 997 was more of a derivative of the 996. The 991 is again a fundamental design change. However if you look at the historical development of the 911 series the 996 probably represents the most fundamental change in design in the entire history of the series.

Dharn, I was thinking the same thing when I first saw the shirt, the 996 should definitely have been included.

The point is, however, it was a completely intentional snub. Including the 901 and not the 996, really CPA? Not another penny from me...including AX. HAHA

Apparently 997's don't have windows. Anyone else notice that?

Also, if you've read Motor Trend recently, they tested a 997 Turbo S and mentioned "Considering that the 997 is really just a refresh of the introduced-in-1998 996 platform, this final, fastest iteration is massively impressive."

Regardless of what they say, everyone knows the 996 is the "Egg McMuffin" of 911s

Eff 'em, that's what I say. As the owner's manual for my 996 says "Key on the left, Tach in the middle, any questions?"
