The whole thing is silly. If they had left the 997 off the shirt because they ran out of space, then the 997 guys would be upset too. It's a pathetic excuse.

Oh, come on, the 959 was never called a 911. It was badged as a 959. Even the 930 was badged as a "Turbo" version of the 911.

The slant nose versions of the 911 didn't have round headlights. Were they not real 911s because they resembled the 935? The 996' headlights resembled the GT1's. So what?

I have no problem with people not liking the 996 design, preferring air cooled models or whatever. To each their own. To suggest that it's not a real 911, however, is just stupid.

Ummm some 959's were actually built from 911's to compete in Group B.

Mr. Pozner,

I know it’s just a shirt, but jeez – it’s such an important evolution of a great series of cars – all with quirks. A major change from the air cooled to the water cooled. I love them both, and to leave that off is pretty strange. Why the 996 and not the 993? My personal favorite is the 993 (looks wise) – but I went with the old adage “buy the newest one you can afford”. I have had a 66 Mustang, a 72 Benz 220D, 99 Honda Civic Si, an 05 WRX STi, an 08 G37, and now have the 04 40th AE and a brand new Hyundai Veloster. I follow the hobby pretty closely on all fronts, and this was a very odd choice IMO.

I am in the Northeast, but if I ever happen to have the occasion of living in the mid-Atlantic you won’t see any dollars from me for anything.

I’m not butt hurt, I’m just shocked – I haven’t finished reading about this – but I had to email you.

I KNOW it’s only a shirt…..

Think of your audience next time.

This isn’t personal, just feedback – take it for what it’s worth…

It all doesn’t “add up” as the shirt states IMHO.

Best regards,

Steve

Understood. I make mistakes often myself. I’m just usually professional in handling the communications and “damage control”. It’s a flaw in my personality, I’m a perfectionist and that causes me issues sometimes. I don’t like windmills, solar panels or algae – so I’ll go bathe in a tub of oil and wash this Internet dirtiness off of me :-)

Thanks for your reply, and congrats on selling the inventory.

Regards,
Steve

Are you and your fellows on the Forum aware of whata mistake is?
I think you will be happy to hear that the t shirts sold out. So there will be no more.
I suggest you find some other windmill to tilt at

I'm not debating over whether Porsche shared some parts with the 911. The 959 was a race car made for the street in order for Porsche to comply with racing requirements. Was the Carrera GT also a 911? I don't think so but, arguably, it too shares some 911 lineage. Neither was sold by Porsche as a 911 model.

Im not saying it shared parts, at all, Im saying the 959 was built from the 911 for Group B. So if you bought one of those 959's for Group B, it was actually a 911.

Unlike the 959, the Carrera GT was never made from a 911. So no, you cant make that conclusion from my comment.

I this really the response you received from the CPA PCA President?????

What an a$$.

I did not attend the Hershey meet yesterday and I will not attend this event in the future. Nor will I participate in any more of their AX events.

There are far too many other great events in my area to sweat missing any CPA activities.

Methinks the lady (ladies) doth protest too much, eh?
Perhaps we should just get over it. Was unlikely deliberate and in an attempt to CYA there were silly emails back and forth (including my own) that suggests we should get on with our lives.
You know what I know? I know this:

1. When I put my foot down on the accelerator, boy does that mother take off, and fast!
2. The 993 turbo in my garage at work is absolutely gorgeous.
3. The 997 turbo in my garage at work is absolutely gorgeous.
4. The 996 C4S in my garage is absolutely gorgeous.

It's spring! Let's go driving!
Ah, junk...it's raining.

Thus endeth the sermon. Let us move on.
