PSE ( Porsche Sport Exhaust) 996
#33
Bump for this thread. This is a must mod for factory PSE cars. Worked like a charm on my C4S. Having the beautiful sport exhaust mute at 30 mph is like some sadistic hitting mute on your favorite song. This stupid Euro noise restriction should never be on any NA cars but it is. Just did a 5 minute mod by snipping the one side of the red diode and bending it up and that was all it too. No fault codes, my quiet button on the dash works as designed but no more 30-40mph sport exhaust muting. Funny thing is, in the states you want your exhaust to sound nice at 30 mph, that's where most of your cruising is done with your windows down when you can hear it.

Like triple black I have a 2004 C2 with the PSE from the factory (option XLF) and on my drive to work this morning I tested 2nd and 3rd gear: it doesn't go on mute between 30 and 40 mph.

Hi guys. I've been wanting to upgrade to a pse. I have a 2000 996c2. I found one coming off of a 2015 Carrera S. 991.
Just have a few questions. Is it a direct swap? Are there any modifications that have to be made? How much should I pay to have it installed?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

Thanks for this!
I want to install the button on my dash for an aftermarket system. This could help with the install greatly, especially the part numbers...

Hello All,
Slid under my dash right above the fuse box panel. Found the relay area and the "asskklagganenngben" relay, wiggled it out and grabbed my precision screwdriver set. Upon further review of the black relay box, it looks as though someone mess around with the pry areas. Finally got the cover to pop open, thus exposing the diodes and motherboard. The "red" diode Pin 1 was already cut for me! I figure the previous owner stumbled upon this hack and saved me some time. Score!!! I am now wondering what other goodies or gremlins previous owner left for me to discover. My PSE button does not light up, so there is always the sound of the PSE in every RPM band. Thanks everybody.
