Is having a body kit on a 996 carrera "ricey". I just want your opinions guys, yes or no. If you think there are some clean ones out there that look good, can you post some pics? Thanks.

For the most part, if something doesn't improve performance (without ruining the ride) -- it's largely b.s. Use the money to go to a good driving school. Take an interesting vacation. Adding a body kit is just a stupid "look at me" ploy. Screams insecurity.

It's not that I wouldnt be wasting money. There's a guy selling a 996 mk1 carrera with a gt3 kit on it already. I'm kinda skeptical on it. Not sure if I should get it. That's why I ran it by you guys for opinions. The cars in great shape, decent miles and all that, just wasn't sure if the kit would consider it riced out.

The only opinion that matters is yours. If you like it, buy it.

my car came with an "aero kit" already on it (TECHART front lip, side skirts, rear bumperettes and tail) and YES, I think it makes the car look better and NO, I really do not mind what others think of it.
P.S. After I found how much $$$ Techart pieces cost, I really got to like my car a whole lot more.

Now, if you get a big "fart can" muffler, that's ricey...

An aero kit is not rice - it's a piece of OEM performance equipment. Whether you like it or not is another matter. Most Porsche enthusiasts like the aero kit and it adds a degree of rarity to your car - expensive equipment that most appreciate.

My 996 came like this when I bought it. I think you can personalize your car by adding some nice rims and aero pieces. Mine did not have the fixed wing, but I have often thought of adding one...i just have other priorities. I dont track it yet, so no huge advantage for me in that aspect of the performance.

Hmmm, maybe buying a Porsche without tracking it screams insecurity too? Why would you need all that performance otherwise?

I don't think there is anything bad with having a nice looking car. Personally I like the aero kit on the Carrera.

Agree 10000000000000000%.

At the end of the day this is the only thing that matters.

Yup! Agreed.

Firstly. the Aero kit does give performance improvements at higher speeds (do you really think Porsche would spend so much time in the wind tunnel making aero kits for all of their cars if that were not the case?). Additionally, IMHO the aero kit makes the 996 a better looking car

Many would argue that all Porsche owners need male enhancement. Making blanket statements like that would certainly seem insecure and judgmental.
