I have these in my doors and they are great. I bought them 5-6 years ago though and Focal stopped making them several years ago. They now make a 13KS I think. Are the ones you got new?

I replaced all the speakers in my 996 with Focal speakers. They are great. You'll love them.

The ones I bought were used for a year then stored. I loved to profile of them.

Looking for dash and rear panel Focals now!

I installed one side today, modded the stock plastic sub box in the door. It sounds terrible. I wonder if the stock amp isnt enough to drive it?

Was wondering if the impedance was the issue? 5ohm on the Focals, and 2ohm on the stock door speakers?

If you are using the stock Bose AMP, I would suspect that is the issue. Bose (bless them) use small, inexpensive speakers and use signal processing technology to make them sound good.

Only product they make where this is appropriate is noise canceling headphones.

I have the stock Hayes one I think it is... the 6x40w cabriolet amp.

Have you got a 996 David? What city are you in?

I've noticed that the 5WS (and 13KS) seems to be the darling of this forum for speaker upgrades. Is there any particular reason this specific speaker is so popular?

Really low frequency capability and quality speaker. If you dont have a plan for bigger subs, these are genuine 5.25" sub woofers...

Do people usually put them in the doors, or replace the speakers in the Bose box in the back?

Or both... I replaced all my speakers with Focal speakers. I put the small subs in the doors, I put 3-way speakers in the dash and 2-way speakers in the rear. I removed the Bose subwoofer box and had a custom box built for a single Focal 10" subwoofer. The custom box was covered in carpet to match the interior so it has a very OEM look. If you didn't know it was there, you'd never see that custom work had been done there.
