Ltusler,

My old 99 was setup exactly the same way except that is was a standard 3.6. Todd even did the ECU, same rev limiter.

The one/off switch wasn't bad on the street. Mine had a delay from bank 1 to bank2 to soften it. Fun car, miss it.

Don't want to hijack Carey's thread. Maybe we need a 996 3.8 subgroup?

Carey, keep the RPM's up! I had mine at Road Atlanta after a couple of hundred miles on Jakes dyno and a oil change. Just don't hit the limiter or keep it revved to high for sustained periods. Over 3k track miles on mine and it just keeps getting better.

Great news !

I can't wait to see the pictures documenting the build !

Can you elaborate about that valve adjustment thing ? I did not know valves had anything that can be adjusted

That sounds sweet Carey. I am in your camp with removing the AWD parts if you won't see wet/snow weather much. You can always retorfit it. The steering is more communicative this way. My TT has its AWD removed and I like it a lot.

Great Post! And what a great opportunity the big bore build offers. With every year and mod that passes I can see how I too might end up at Mr. Raby's place. Something to be said for building your own unique Porsche.

Hey Phil, where have you been mate? When is your next event? I was shooting for Chin on 17th but not sure if Ill be ready so soon. As for the valves, I assume the the valve clearance may need to be checked but maybe not. We can always put them in the valve stretcher if needed...

Seriously, the car is running really strong. I cant wait to really open it up at the track....

I am not sure how much parasitic loss there is from flywheel to wheels. Maybe someone more knowlegeable will respond...?

Something like this ????

Carrera 2= -12%
Carrera 4= -17%
Tiptronic= -2%

So if he decoupled and I'm assuming manual?, 327 works out to 366 at the flywheel.

Yep think it's finally sorted, old flywheel was toast, rattling/shuddering... new FW is in and working much better/smoother. It looks like just one more issue to sort out with the idle valve.
