Default sold my 996...it was a great car.

the buyer came back to do the test drive today and bought my car. slight drama regarding the cashiers check he gave me in the other thread which everyone should read.
even with the $3K in upgrades i did 2 months ago, because of the high trade in value on my benz, i basically broke even on the car. its pretty frustrating seeing people bad mouth these cars when they've never been behind the wheel...my 996 drove really well, was comfortable and the shifting/braking/climate control excellent. lots of car for the money and i think i would go for a seal grey example next time so i could wrap the lights to give it more of the round headlight look which i prefer. that other rennlister's grey car with the parking lot photos at night looks great.

i never should have driven my friends turbo damn it. i started looking for one while i had my 996 for sale and realized i need $45K to buy the right low mileage example. anything i've seen in the mid 30's has too high mileage or abused.
since i need to wait to do this or my wife will throw me out(she can't understand why i must keep my '59 sunroof)i started to look for something else in the meantime while i save some cash.

i stumbled upon a nice 1982 911sc charcoal grey w/black interior here in seattle. its the car that wayne dempsey (pelican)used in his 101 project book about 12 years ago...30K on complete bottom and top rebuild, clutch at the same time. has lots of suspension upgrades/upgraded ss muffler/upgrades on engine. it was repainted 10 years ago and paint looks really good but has some chips. just a real nice driver.

i put a deposit on it contingent on the sale of my car. the seller is a really nice guy and understood my position. i'm picking it up at the end of the week.

i enjoyed this forum and will probably be back soon.

Nice to hear your 996 ownership experience was a pleasant, albeit short, one.

Best of luck with the new SC, it looks great from the pic you posted.

no i never did get to see that turbo in person...its really amazing how frustrating it is dealing with sellers these days....some of the turbos in the $35K range had accident history. funny how those guys go out of their way to get the deal done but the owners of nice examples would flake.

the seller of the 82 sc is a great guy to deal with, has many p-cars and has gotten into strictly racing. what a pleasure it was to deal with someone who follows thru and communicates. *i'll post some pictures of the 82sc when i get the original black center pedal fuchs mounted on the car.

i'll be back in this forum hopefully with either a seal grey turbo or low mileage seal grey 996.

Nice pick up with the SC, obviously you are no stranger to that model. Keep us in your Porsche loop for future buys.

Hmm, water cooled, to air cooled.... on the way to forced air & water cooled. Nice transition. Good luck with the SC, she's sharp and enjoy the hunt for the TT.

appreciate the comments on the car....it's a good solid driver. like the 356 and early 911's, the sc's are becoming hard to find.
i'll post some photos when i get the original painted wheels on the car and install the H4 headlights.
