i just put 2 layers of thick blue tape(i bought from homedepot)under the line i am going to cut with exacto knife, after i cutted, i then took off the blue tape. this would not damage the paint even a little.

Well, that's sort of harsh.

Looks like it took quite a bit of effort, but the look of a plastic-covered car is not really my style either.

But, as they say... to each his own.

Good idea, I was watching some videos on youtube and they were cutting right above the paint..
