When I was looking for one here in SoCal, price ranged from $275 (cheapest) all the way up to $1000++. Average was $500. Local sale is ideal so customer can inspect the top and test-fit on the car...and drive home with it once sale is final. Shipping is a common "turn off" because it starts at $300 plus it is a pain to box/pack.
FWIW, I bought one for $400 with a Porsche cover and stand included (local sale, I picked it up). Some recent ads on CL:

Depends on how patient you are. I had one for maybe 8 months and finally got rid of it for $250, or maybe it was less. You have to find a buyer who drives in the winter, same color, close by, wants to hassle with it, etc. My experience anyway.

I bought mine for 300 in the right colors both interior and exterior. average is about 500. Those much higher do sit forever. Shippinig costs and painting costs are excessive. Price it at 500 to sell.

I paid $75 here in Denver for one on the man mall (aka CL). My car is seal grey, but the one I bought is arctic silver, which is much more popular color and more marketable. It doesn't look bad, although my preference is the seal grey.

I just paid $250 but it was becuase I had to spend another $100 to get it fitted perfectly for the car but it really depends on where you live and how patient you want to be. If you live in the northeast, you will likley get more as people need them. You live in TX, SoCal or Florida, not too many people looking for them so you'll have to ship it which is a major PIA. However, be a good sport and sell it to someone who really needs it for a fair price. Call is $500 and everyone walks away happy. Good luck

You can have the interior trim pieces dyed for a lot less than painting the top. My buddy bought an ocean blue with a savannah interior and ha she interior dyed grey to match his interior. Cost about $100 at a local upholstery shop.
In the early days (99-01 I think) the tops were standard, deleting them was optional. Back then there were lots of them available. The dealer where I bought my car must hav head 15-20 in storage, and many owners never put them on and the dealers were just left with them. Since the tops became an option many cars are delivered without them (probably most now) so they have become harder to find. But on eBay there are usually 10+ for sale at any one time.
