Looking at 996s,... I thought it would be a plus to pickup the Bentley Manual to aquaint myself....I guess they will be releasing one soon.

Hello there! I'm the sales & marketing manager for Bentley and yes, the manual is finally almost here! I'm expecting to see our first sample copies from the printers within the next few days. In the meantime, if anyone has any questions about the book, post them here & I can try and answer them the best I can.

Will it include 996.1 and .2 or will they be different versions of the book? Also will C4S be covered?

Yes, the 996.1 and 996.2 are covered in the manual, along with the C4S. What the manual doesn't have (and would editorially warrant its own book) is GT3 coverage.

I'll likely rework the models covered section of the web page for the book to better clarify this.

Hi Maurice -- Will you have a Kindle version or other e-reader version of your book? I like to read these things on my iPad that I can carry with me.

Not at this time, although iPad and other e-book versions of our manuals is definitely something that we're looking at for the future (along with just about every other book publisher in the world I suppose!)

So far, it's on schedule for Monday, October 1. I'll know more when I see our printer's samples next week. I may even be able to post a photo or two of the book.

I have the Bentley manula for the Jag XKE....loose leaf removeable pages etc in a strong binder. Will the 996 book be available in the same format?

Also, will the 996 book cover this IMS bearing issue, as in will it talk to replacing the original bearing with the LN afttermarket?

I am anxious to see how it compares to the Porsche shop manuals that I have. They are on PDF and are searchable, cross reference parts numbers, etc., and were a lot less than $219. But if the Bentleys have additional information they might be worth the price.
