2post Lift: Need lift-point "pucks"?
I'm gonna put the Pcar up on a buddy's lift (an hour away) in a couple weeks.
Do you guys with lifts use anything between the lift's (large) lift pads and the car's (small) lift points? I have to use pieces of wood that break and split when I use a jack. I've seen aluminum "pucks" advertised but they're pricey.
How do you guys do it?

I live in San Diego, of what do you speak of with these "hockey pucks"?
Good idea, maybe Big5 has some, and they have to be cheaper than the aluminum ones. Once my garage is built (with lift!) I'll finally start to be able to fabricate my own goodies.
Any other solutions out there?

If you have the time, order them on-line. Last time I checked, Big5 had only team logo pucks at about $5 each. You can find generic ones on-line for like 98 cents. Need to get free shipping to make the deal work tho'

i used to put a puck then stopped as i switch wheels from street to track ones almost every week - it is fine. car will not melt or disintegrate from metal to metal connection.
you need to use something if jack you use is of commercial type and has very wide deep 'bowl' so your mount point is not in touch with jack itself.

If the pucks work and are tall enough for the "bowl" in the lift/jack, then I'll be all set.

You can double up a puck if needed. Anytime I talk to a shop and they don't use hockey pucks they thank me later. I have 9 of them just at home, I recommend bright colored ones so you don't lose them.

cool. Was wondering about stacking. Would probably screw them together to make it a little more "safe" (in as much as using hockey puck spacers on a lift is safe in the first place). Would probably bolt them together, recessing the bolt head and nut and let some of the thread poke out the top which would go into the hole in the Pcar lift pad. Sort of like one of those fancy aluminum ones.

I cut off sections off rubber-sandals so they fit to my jack's surface. Contact point will then be car's jack point - rubber - jack.
It's free as they break all the time (the sandals not jack or car's jacking point), and I used to throw them away. Now I used them for all sorts of things, and I have heaps of them.
