Default Suspension Question

My OEM shocks are gone at 115K miles. Ebay has s coilover set of Yellow DPS coilovers for $1073 with free shipping. Is anyone familiar with these coilovers? Any suggestion in lieu of this system?? Any suggestions or opinions are appreciated.

Thats pretty good mileage you got out of them. Have not heard of the DPS system. I have the X74.....great improvement. I think Chris Whaley has a set for sale for a C2. Atleast he did a few weeks back. Might be worth a PM to him.

Thanks Sneaky Pete, I will check with that individual, but there is a H&R coilover set up available, but they are up around $1500, a little high for my budget right now!! I have around a grand right now and maybe I will just wait and start shopping when I can double this amount. I think the PSSS10 system is up around 2500

Thanks Chao,
I read the links you posted and it looks like I may go with the M030 system. I lost the one I bid on Ebay so I may just go with M030 from Suncoast. Thanks to all for the responses.

I'm in a similar situation and was planning on picking up an x74 setup. Unfortunately, Gert didn't have them in stock last month (backordered). Anybody know of another seller at similar prices? The dealer price on this setup is through the roof (even through suncoast)!

You can place the X74 on the C4. It is just a bit lighter in the Spring rates then the X73. Pete can confirm how the ride is with his car.

Welllllllllll...you can put the X74 on a C4 but I believe the C2 and C4 are different. I may be splitting hairs here because the weight diff from a C2 to a C4 is not huge. I think the springs in front are different due to the extra weight of the C4 but the springs in the rear same. The X73 is for a C4S and Turbo and the springs different from the X74 in the rear because of the extra weight of the widebody. Either way the drive is awesome.....the floaty / tipping feeling is completely gone. The car is planted all the time.

Puting the X74 on a C4 might work well. I put the X73 on a Turbo Cab even though it was designed for the coupe. The extra weight of the cab takes some of the harshness out of rough roads, but it still totally transformed the way the car handles.

I agree that the extra weight of the C4 takes some of the harshness out of the system. Other then the springs rates on the front progressive springs that shocks are identical in the mounting and installation.

Guys,

There are 2 different X73 kits, one for the 996TT and one for the 996C4S.
And two different X74 kits one for the carrera2 and one for the c4.
The x74 (exclusive sport suspension) includes 4 complete struts and stabilizers.
The x73 (turbo sport suspension) includes 4 struts and two motor mounts.

I don't think that you can fit a C2 shock on a C4 wheel carrier.. : )

Thanks guys, I'm in a C4 as well. If I'm going to go through the trouble of putting a new suspension in I'd like to get the model specific version of the x74 setup. That said, I'm only looking for the springs/shocks. I think I'm going to go with the GT3 stabilizer bars instead.
