before the front hieght was 24.75" and rear 25.75" and to be honest the ride was not soft and i always complaint to myself, but after the bilsteins hd,sways and especially alignment and tire pressure 32 f and 34 r...the ride hieght around is 25.5"....the handling is superb ...the car shocks absorbs all potholes on the road(of course exept huge ones) and no transfer into the cabin/driver before i use to drive around imperfections on the road now i look for them to go over ...before i had to hold the steering with both hands ,now i cruise with one at any speed......i am more than happy i would describe it as hitting the jackpot with the suspension setup.

Maci, I agree with Red. Remember that the weight of the engine is over the rear wheels. I found 39 to 40 PSI in the rear to work well. The 44 PSI that Porsche recomments is too much, IMO.

Did the previous owner install after market mufflers? If you have enough length, you should move them so they extend about 1.0 to 1.5 inches past the upper part of the opening in the bumper cover. I am guessing on the distance here since I no longer have my 996. Maybe someone can measure how much their tips stick out and post that number here.

The pic below is the best shot I have of how far out my tips extended.
