Default Forgestar introduces 996 narrow & widebody specific wheels

We have been dealing with Forgestar for a little over 2 years and have been through their various growing pains. We have counseled with them a lot on the Porsche market and what you guys wanted, I am proud to say that they have finally listened and stepped up to offer to the Porsche community a full bolt-on wheel.

We felt the Porsche community was willing to pay a little bit more for the differences that would turn this great product into an industry killer!

Forgestar have started a new run of 19" Porsche specific fitments and

- OE center caps fits
- OE lug bolts fit
- Hubcentric wheels - no rings - no vibrations - no balancing issues
- Weight optimized offsets and backpad weight reduction
- In STOCK - no 6 to 8 weeks lead times!

FLOW-FORMING

Forgestar's flowforming process is a unique solution to a common problem – how to make a wheel both light and strong.

This specialized process begins with a low pressure type of casting and uses a special machine that spins the initial casting, heats the outer portion of the casting and then uses steel rollers pressed against the rim area to pull the rim to its final width and shape. The combination of the heat, pressure and spinning create a rim area with the strength similar to a forged wheel. During Flow Forming, the pressure applied to the cast rim actually changes its mechanical properties, so its strength and impact values become similar to those of a forged rim. That translates to up to 15% less weight when compared to a standard cast wheel. The resulting grain structure within the alloy of the wheel is linear, flowing in a single direction.

This grain structure pattern, combined with the exceptional quality of casting required for the process, gives the rim area of the wheel huge mechanical strength, and elongation. As a result of these mechanical characteristics, Forgestar is able to reduce the thickness of the rim area resulting in reduced weight, without compromising strength and resistance to impact.

We have 40 sets in stock.

We can make 18s - they just won't be Porsche specific like these. They will use metal hub rings, Forgestar center caps and new conical lug bolts.

18s are 1,400 + shipping for a set in standard finishes! 19s are 1,600 + shipping for a set in brushed aluminum, any other finish will be a $200 extra charge and 2 - 3 weeks lead time.

Not on a 996...not to mention that I have 1k miles or less on a new set of 18" tires! lol

But I really think they're great looking rims.

Bigger is better! Always!

Seriously though I like the big wheel look. However, right now my car budget is spent for a while. Plus, like you I have new tires on my 18"s.

1) You live in a far off place called California where roads are nice and smooth (generally speaking).

2) I live in the land of potholes and bent rims where roads are routinely assaulting our cars.

Don't get me wrong though. I don't have a problem with the look of the 19s. From everything I've read about the 996, however, it really wasn't designed for them so I've kind of shied away from them on my C4S. Of course, having a new set of 18" tires certainly influences my opinion a bit, not to mention that I love the way the Turbo Twists look on these cars.

I like the look of 19's but with the M030 suspension and Illinois roads I believe that I'd need a kidney transplant soon.

They are sharp looking though.
