Would Renagate LS V8 conversion be cheaper and last longer?

Ducking now.

I am sure it would be both cheaper and would probably last longer. It would most certainly be characterized as a "Bastard".. But if that doesn't bother you, bolt that bitch up.

I looked at the renegade LS option for my car, but did not want to bastardize my 911 even though it is mine forever at this point...

IIRC the renegade conversion parts cost somewhere around 5-8k.

Then you need to source an engine. If you go cheap, you are looking at maybe 4-5k for a rebuilt crate lower HP engine.

But if you want that beast of an engine they put in the Corvette... different story, IIRC 10-15k for something you would want to trust (unless you buy used of course).

So total build cost was somewhere in the neighborhood of a M96 rebuild. The price along with wanting to keep the car somewhat genuine scratched the renegade option off my list (although it would have been fun for sure!!!).

To make this perfectly clear, we charge the same money to do a 3.4 to 3.4 as a 3.4 to 3.6 with Nickies and JEs. We will not re-use original pistons and will only supply a complete package with matching, new JE Pistons. The only real change during reassembly is the use of a different Porsche head gasket (3.8 997). You don't need to reprogram the ECU or do anything different during reassembly. So there should be no extra expense involved here. That is why we rarely do any at the stock bore size. At the end of the day, no matter what recommendation we have made we do what we are told and what is asked for us. We have no control over who is doing the assembly or the finished product, as that's up to the engine builder and that's something the end user needs to research for themselves.
