Default Windows Not Working

Help

'02 Cab, all four windows are not going up or down. The front windows do drop when opening and closing the doors.

This just happened and I've never had this problem. Things done with the car in the last week. Installed my hardtop, had the car state inspected. The inspection station opened the drivers window and I one click closed it to drive home so they were working after the above was done.

Parked the car, went out later to it and none of the windows will open, the buttons do nothing.

I've checked the fuses for the alarm and windows and they are all good.

What to check next? Or what is wrong? It is something central as all 4 switches couldn't go bad at once.

...Removed the hardtop and the problem still exists, however it should be noted, the windows did go up/down with the soft top going up and down as it should.

Check at Renntech (should become a member; a good site to support).

Maybe. I took the hardtop off and it didn't fix the problem.

I am a member, I didn't want to post in both places, guess I will ask there too.

Tried that, doesn't help

Almost like there is a safety switch (like in some cars) which turns off the window switchs.

all fuses B6, and D3 in addition to D1 & D4?

Did you try locking and unlocking with the remote?

Yes, I checked them all, I'll check them again. My fuse layout is a little different, this is a '02 C4 Cab if that means helps with the problem. This is frustrating. The windows work when opening and closing the Cabrio top, but not from the switches.

I have unlocked and locked the car numerous times today with no change. And, everything else in the car is working perfectly.

I was thinking, maybe I should disconnect/reconnect the battery to see if it resets something that is causing the problem. What do you guys think of this?

Well I checked the fuses, for water and anything else I can think of, but found nothing wrong and still the windows do not work.

I'm considering a full reset by disconnecting the battery, is there anything I need to be aware of before I do this and anything I need to do after I reconnect it?

You may need radio code after disconecting battery.
Could you have kneeled on the console and disrupted the switches somehow?
When you were installing the hard top

Just removed the switch panel and everything looks okay in there. I also disconnected one of the connectors and turned on the car and multi-metered it. Getting no voltages on any of the switch wires.

Also, just to be clear the windows worked after the hardtop was mounted and even after the inspection. They stopped working somewhere on the ride home from the inspection station.

Are there any other fuses in the car other than by the drivers foot?

Thanks to everyone who tried helping me, I will be bringing the car to my Indy either this or next week.

In a last ditch effort, I disconnected the battery and double checked every fuse in the fuse box. No burnt out fuse and after reconnecting the battery the problem still exists.

I will post what the solution is once it is fixed.

Just wanted to close this out, got the car back about a week ago and the problem stemmed from a bad Immobilizer. Once it was replaced the windows worked perfectly. And, this was the only thing in the car which wasn't working properly.

Thanks again for all suggestions on what to look at.
