Default what should I wish for?

My car is messed up bad on passenger side. Should I hope for a total loss as much as I love the car? It will loose consirable value if it's repaired correct? Macster, Ivangene, others help me out here. Will she ever be the same?

and yes that's a stone wall I ended up on after being t-boned at fifty mph.

Yes you want it to be a total lose unless you are upside down on your load if you have one. She will never be the same.

agreed...get the insurance money and look for another one

you will loose some money most likely but we all did.....you would have a really hard time selling it with accident history - trust me I know, many buyers will simply hang up when you start to explain it....CLICK

dont know your financial state on it (own, payments, owing?) and the insurance coverage..."gap" insurance if you are upside down...but the time without the car will be more than a month, maybe 2-3 months do do it right and the rental car, stress, and final results (which will mostly dissapoint if you are really picky) are not worth the effort -

that said if you just HAVE to get it fixed...2 thoughts
1 - sell it right away when done - fresh and clean, highest $
2 - drive it long enough to get your money back..knowing in time you will forget about the details and learn to live with it but always fearful of the work showing

either way, its a personal choice - you might not have a choice for the first step (total or fix) so think about the second one

I hope they total that car. It just won't be the same car you loved...

Agreed 100%

Get it totalled - Resell value will suck when you are ready to sell

Get it totalled, because waiting 3 months for it to be repaired will really be frustrating. Then when you do get it back all the small corners the body shop cuts along the way will start to be evident.

Trust me on this.

It's been over a month since my accident. Not as bad as yours; but with the delay on repairs and getting the right parts, now I'm trying to decide if one, as soon as it's fixed, get rid of it. Or, two, get the company to now decide to total it and just cut me a check.

Buddy, if they total it that would be better for you. I think if it were me and it was repaired no matter by who i'd always have a nagging doubt about it even though i'd still love my car. If it's not totalled and it gets repaired there is a "diminished value" compensation that should be addressed because now with a accident history resale won't be as much as without. I think you could fall in love all over again with another one that's just how this breed is.

I wish I could just say ok total it. But it's not that simple. The car is being towed back to Inskip, where I bought it. The adjuster says he's leaning toward fixing it but he doesn't know enough about p-cars so tow it to a shop. Now get this one. Tell me if this isn't the craziest thing you've ever heard. The bill for the towing was $7,000.00. At least that's what the tow operater is going to try to extort from the insurance company. That's the actual bill that was presented to inskip for payment before the car can be released...!?

Crossing four lanes after a stop sign to get to my road on the other side. White bmw in far lane moving fast hit me square in the front doorjamb sending me into a stone wall. I never saw him coming. No brakes. Just a very hard whack. My teeth are still sore. Not even his little white poodle was hurt.

The bill for the towing was $7,000.00.

I think the operator left out a zero or two!!! What a crook!! Exactly how far is that tow to Inskip?

Didn't you say the guy that hit you was doing 50pmh? Looks like a perfect T-bone from the pic. And if you were, how far were you pushed? I can't see with that speed nothing less than significant internal/structural damage occured. Aren't these cars unibodies? Again i'm no expert by any stretch of the imagination.

I think that car is done.

7000 for towing? Was it towed across the country?

Given the type/severity of impact I doubt the car can be repaired.

However, that doesn't mean the insurance company won't try to have it repaired.

I'm a bit reluctant to discuss this with you publicly. I have nothing to hide, and I'm sure you do not have anything to hide, but I caution you that what you post may be read by the insurance company adjusters.

If you want to take this off line, by phone even, send me a PM and we can talk. I'll share with you what I learned in the hope that you will find it helpful.

Sincerely,

Macster.
