Default Tire Size & Effects

looking to get the Pilot Super Sports for my 03 in 225/45 and 285/35 as opposed to the original 225/40 and 285/30. Would this have any negative effect on any of the sensors? Thanks.

I would look up the two sizes on Tire Racks website and compare the circumferences.
Then maybe those with more knowledge on the subject can determine if the difference in circum. ( if any ) would have an effect.
Just my humble opinion.

IIRC the PSM runs off the ABS sensors, body yaw sensors and potentiometers, and the front and rear tire diameters need to be within a certain % of one another so the Body computer can make the ABS sensors work properly.
In Looking up those sizes on tire rack they appear to be 25.9" diameter each. ABS sensors don't care what the diameters are as long as they are within the % difference.
Probably make the speedo closer to real mph since they are fast by about 5 mph with the stock size tires at 70mph.

Well that is true, then technically he will be out of spec by 0.5% +/- so should be fine... but still His porsche will be a One Off Porsche "Moon Rover"

it will have a (very) small effect on handling (softer/slower) and might have increase in weight. as mentioned if both tires stay within % of each other electronics should be fine.

Thank you very much for this response, this makes sense to me.

Just an fyi...if you have 8" front wheels (or wider) I really recommend getting a 245 width up front. Mine don't rub and the car handles/brakes much better.

I am running 235/40/18 & 295/30/18 Hankook and I think it is a perfect setup for my car 92004 40th Anniversary).

knfeparty are you running the 245's on 8" rims? What year car is that? lowered or stock height? I was thinking of going in that direction when I ned fronts again.

Thanks for the recommendation, I may go 245/40 on the front ans 285/35 on the rear. What tires are you running?

As stated before, PSM and ABS won't care a bit as long as the front and rears are close to each other in circumference.
