Default couple of nights ago, in traffic, suddenly, loss of 1st gear and reverse....

2nd was REALLY tough to get into. At first, I thought, shifter cable. Then I thought those finger like clips, both of which are relatively cheap.

Then I thought about it more and thought...."oh no.....synchros". Cha Ching.

Well, called the mechanic and he troubleshot over the phone. With the engine off, I could get the shifter into 1st and reverse. With the engine on, negative.

I could also start w/ the shifter in 1st, with clutch engaged and engine on.

Turned out to be the broken diaphram spring in the clutch. New clutch went in and fixed. Got 60k out of the clutch.

Not bad.

Glad you got it fixed, we're expecting you at AudiFest/Infineon in a couple of weeks.

Sometimes things are nothing to get to exited about, If that happened to me I would be very afraid. I need to get a mechanic in MA

Glad it all worked out. Its always good news when the worse is expected and the end result was another cheaper fix
