The dealer in my area won't program the key unless you purchase said key there. Total cost here is about $350

Have you guys tried a locksmith? i had www.LocksmithOfLosAngeles.com do mine and my key was entirely lost. Took a little bit of time but they did it for around $300 much cheaper then the dealer.

^^^^ sounds like a troll and advertising. So this locksmith can also program Porsche keys?

lets pretend it isnt a troll/scam.
Isnt a dealer key ordered and programmed for ~$350 anyway? how it is much cheaper? for 50 bucks ill go to the dealer so that i can be certain it works AND have that 'porsche' stamp on the top of the invoice AND drink all thier coffee.

I just ordered two keys from Sunset Porsche as my original key's circuit boards have been dead for a while. I figured I may as well get 2 keys made instead of one while the dealership is going to charge me for an hour's labor to program.

With almost any brand's smart key you can waste a lot of time and spend a lot of money and still wind up with a solution that does not work. I'd spend the extra $50 and have the dealer do it every time.
