Default What's the cheapest way to get a new 996 key

lost my key in the airport this week. Have a valet key as a backup and so would like to replace the primary. I know you can buy the head and the blank and then pay the dealer to program it. What's the cheapest protocol to put it all together. Checked paragon and they don't sell them. Thanks guys

Get the Full Key (Head & Blade) from Suncoast or Sonnen Porsche for Less than any Dealer. But you will have to take it to your Local Dealer to Program it. It should be 1/2 hour Labour. Also any Porsche Indy that has the Porsche Factory Computer/Software should be able to program it for your As well.

There was long, winding thread on this very topic 2 weeks ago -- do a quick search and I'm sure you'll find it.

Well the cheapest way would be to just remember where the hell you lost the thing and go back and get the key.

Duhhhhh.

Yes, but he asked for the cheapest way to get a NEW key. That would just mean that he found his old key. How boring is that?

That would not be the cheapest way to get a new key.

They cheapest way to get a NEW key is for someone to buy it for you...or steal it...although I don't condone the latter, which could actually get very expensive if you wind up needing a lawyer. Never mind, just get someone to buy it for you.

I bought a transmitter on eBay, took it to Sunset along with my valet key and had them combine the two. wasn't too expensive as I recall

With a responsible job, needy wife and three kids I really don't get enough sarcasm in the daily course of events. Very appreciative of you guys catching me up! Have an email into the Brits per the thread a few weeks ago. Thanks for the tip

I bought the cheap key head without transmitter and blank blade. Had the dealer cut the blade...and not even that was cheap...but a helluva lot cheaper than getting the transmitter programmed.
