Lightbulb Porsche Umbrella ?

So I read in a post here that the long cubby in the passenger door base was for a $40 Porsche umbrella. I happened to be shopping at target and saw a $15 Totes umbrella - Black with a silver handle. It is a perfect fit - actually 3" to spare and drops right in. The Black and Silver match the interior well. Just what every Seattle Carrera needs

Yes, but does that Target umbrella have the leather case with the Porsche logo embossed on it?

Seriously, good find. I have one of the Porsche umbrellas and it comes in handy once in a while.

Sincerely,

Macster.

The porsche umbrella is expensive but I'd recommend it. it fit really snug and you don't have to worry about it flying in the car during hard driving. it is well built but nothing out of this world. the pocket it is enclosed in is very very well made though.

Cool

I have one of the Porsche umbrellas and paid the big bucks for it years ago (about $45 back then, I think). The leather container is a little banana shaped to nicely and fully fit the odd shape of the space, and there is a silver O-ring to pull it up. The umbrella has PORSCHE on it in several places.
Makes a nice doodad at a concours (I'm into Porsche doodads).
But ultimately and practically, it works the same at the $15 ones mentioned above.

But, in the same way, so would a VW hood ornament in place of the Porsche crest.

I had no idea that so many P-cars could be driven in the rain.

I have a little one in the side pocket, and my full size BMW one that matches very well and more functional on the side. Installs in the same place it did on the BMW...and actually costs more than the Porsche one. In Colorado, the weather is unpredictable so I always like having one with me. The small one on the side pocket is just an extra for a passenger or to throw in my work backpack.

Why does that one make me think of Crocodile Dundee?

I'll bet the Porsche umbrella deploys much faster.

I think there was a recall on the Porsche umbrella's release ring.

Never thought about the deploy rates, could make the dif from getting or not getting wet!
Any idea if Ln is going to come out with a aftermarket release spring.

That just looks like the kind of thing that would get you shot on a traffic stop!

The totes is cheaper, but for another $30, you can have a Porsche part that fits the car much better. Worth the $30 IMHO!

PS--Where are these $45 Porsche umbrellas?? The ones I see are double that price.
