I just watched the video - it's amazing that at least 50% of the rounds hit the ground in front of the car...

This is one of the stupidest things I've seen in a long time.

Not everyone can afford a pcar. If they can afford an older 996 they probably can't afford the maintance. But I think it is very sad to despise a group of people who can afford one. Almost every pcar owner I know is a very hard working individual who has paid for it themselves. I know there are trust fund people who have things given to them by rich families and I'm sure some have pcars.

Compare pcar drivers to BMW, 350Z, Mustang, any rice rocket and tell me who is more courteous.

10,000 rounds at $1+ round for those high power jobs is enough to buy that motor on my Official found on ebay/craigslist thread....and have it installed.

then they could have all taken a ride in a Porsche and got a hard on instead of wanking it like this...

what ever, there is no shortage of stupidity

Funny, a year or two ago, I had an impatient 996 owner standing on his horn wanting me to plant my BMW in the rear of the car in front of me so he could make a U-turn. I wonder if he would have done the same if I was in my 996 that day. I bet he would because that driver was just a plain impatient *****.

I don't think a particular marque makes a person more or less courteous, I think that's up to the person. My driving habit didn't change when I owned Nissans, then moved to BMW ownership, then moved to Porsche ownership.

Back to the topic of this thread, I think that's awesome. I would love to shoot my firearms at a car (or two) to see what they can penetrate.

Michael.

Yeah, he probably owns one of those `block out the sun' 4 x 4's that forces everything smaller off the highway. Asshat.

Article says the owner didn't want to spend more on the repair bill than the car was worth?

How much would that car be worth if it had a running motor?

In my eyes, this video did more to reinforce the stereotype that many gun owners are nuts than it did to help their cause. Add in the fact that a significant number of them were obviously incapable of hitting the broad side of a barn with their high powered weapons and it starts to paint a scary picture.

That can't be further from the truth. You don't know the distance they are shooting from, who (i.e. female, child, etc) is doing the shooting, what their shooting experience is, and what they are shooting with.

Hitting inside a target w/ tight groupings from 50yds is easy with an AR-15 and non-magnified red dot on a bench rest (even moreso w/ my FN PS90 ), but it's a helluva challenge w/ a 9mm pistol, firing from the shoulder, or shooting at 100+ yds.

The gun "nuts" are the ones that are most likely crazy accurate because of their experience. It's the n00bs and urban commandos that you'd have to be worried about.

I did stereo type, my bad!

My point was really that most of the pcar owners I know are courteous drivers and not reckless on the highway.

This guy could have had an LS1 conversion done. This was worth at least $10K with the bad engine. There was someone selling a 3.4L on here from Denver for only $4500 so there are always options on how to re-power a 996.

You guys are all forgetting that this was a tax writeoff for the owner. So by donating it to this charity he is helping his tax situation and having a hell of a time shooting that thing to pieces. Plus he knew he'd get publicity out of the stunt so why not take out your frustrations in this way?

No, I don't. And unless you were there, you don't either.

I disagree. Owning high-powered weapons or being enthusiastic about them does not automatically make a person an accurate, responsible user of the weapon just like owning a high performance automobile or being enthusiastic about one doesn't automatically make a person skilled at driving a car.

regarding tax write off:

so if he got $10k write off (hell oven $20k) that means he didnt have to pay tax on that much income...assuming he is somewhere between 20 and 30 precent tax that means he didnt have to pay $2-3K (or $4-6k in the $20k senario)

that isnt much...I think the guy opened his mouth and before he thought thru it had a car full of holes and now is laying awake at night wishing he had done it differantly.

OH wait, its a Tip...never mind, those cant be tracked
