Default 996/997 Depreciation chart or figures

anyone have access to anything like this. Looking for a new daily driver and was quoted some lease figures from Porsche on pre-owned 911's. They put the residual at 50% on an 06 with 15k per year. On a 50k car that's a 25k residual. I'm thinking an 06 3 years from now would be worth more than $25k so it would be more cost effective to just pay cash and sell it in 3 years myself?? I know this is guesswork on a 997 since we are guessing on future value but the same should have held true on say a used 02 bought/leased in 06??

Can anyone chime in with an hard data?

thanks

You're adding 45k miles over the 3 years, plus what's already on the clock. See what an '03 goes for today with the same miles/options.

I considered that but 06 to 03 takes it from a 997 to a 996. Not sure how much that changes the $$$$

996's were more expensive then 997's, at least in NA. I don't know but there were significant prices drops during the 997 era. If I remember it started when the 9964S and 996TT stopped being sold. Then we got a nice price drop and then another one a year later.

Yeah it's apples to oranges that an 03 will be 996 to 997, but three years from now we will have the 99X replacement to 997 so I'd consider your question in the same realm. Not to mention that your 06 will be a 997.1 and we are already far into 997.2 production.

Personally, I'm banking on $25k 997's in three years because I'll be in the market for a different car by then.

Excellence Magazine has one of the better data bases, and well worth the $25 subsciption.

Interesting data set. The values of the 996's and 997's are pretty similar when normalized for age, according to Excellence, at least. Here's the data from that site for the Carrera Coupe '99-'07.

[Notes: Up-Triangles indicate "high" prices, Down-triangles indicate "low" prices. Each point is labled with model year, and the age of the car when the value was determined is on the X-axis.]

so how much is a 99 worth with a new engine and new transmission? one really has to wonder if you want a 13 year old car with original engine and tranny... according to those figures a used 99 is worth $25K...

so should one with a new motor and tranny be worth... ??? $35K

The data says a used '99 coupe is worth $16,300 to $21,800 when it was 11 years old, Last year. The values have probably dropped, so it's not worth $25K.
