'99 Red and Orange Tail Lights to this

Don't sweat it Dell, the child support is what it is. I'm lucky I found this car last year with low miles on it. In person it looks and drives like a one year old car.
Money is tight, thank God its paid for. I love the car and I'm always looking for inexpensive ways to make it better. I've done quite a bit of stuff to it for peanuts.
The headlights bother me.

I don't sweat it. Hang in there. Sounds like things can only get better. Who gives a damn about chrome wheels and orange headlights. You're taking care of your kid and have a Porsche in the garage. If that the starting point life is going to get good in the coming years

Three Wheelin'
I personally don't know what the fuss is about with the orange headlight strips.
They never looked look that bad to my eye...but then again I'm in the minority group that prefers the MkI headlights over the MkII.
They way it's going, the strip of orange is getting to be a rare sight. It will eventually be covetted as a vintage or classic feature, and guys will start backdating. Mark my words.
Chrome wheels on the other hand.....your point on priorities is well taken and most importantly if *you* like them then those of us that don't can just &^%c right off.
The white looks better than great. Easily the best colour for a 996 IMO.

The backup lights are still very bright, but with a red cast. I started to notice how many cars out there have all red tail lights. Take notice there's more than you realize and thats from the factory.
The clear coat gave them a nice high gloss finish and I applied about a dozen coats of wax today so they are smooth as glass. We'll see how they hold up.
I did not like the look of the factory lights and I just don't have $350-$500 to blow on new tail lights. I thought I'd just share an inexpensive solution with you guys.

You are right about many car companies using all-red tails. But if that is the case, they always have separate (clear) reverse lights mounted elsewhere.

The way Porsche does is is through optics and prisms. It appears all red to you but the reversing lights come out white, as they should. All you have done is spray a clear red coating over your lenses, effectively blocking out the white light--not a wise thing to do in the interest of just looking good.
