Default Dension Gateway 500

Does anyone have this unit working with the PCM? I have an 04 with the PCM cd/nav. I was going to replace the whole head unit to get ipod and be able to control it with the head unit, but this looks like a good option if it really works.

They recommend professional installation, but am wondering if it is a do-it yourself job.

It is a DYI, I did it myself. There are a few posts on the install. Unit works great! I bought mine from Eric at Bumper Plugs. Great support!

In looking into this further, I am wired for the CDC, but the car doesn't currently have one. I saw something in the install manual that this feature might have to be enabled by the dealer.

Does anyone know if this is generally true?

Yes it is, it takes the dealer 10 minutes, you have to normally pay for 1 hour labor.

It is a DIY and I have posted a very detailed writeup with pics (LINK). As far as working with PCM you need to make sure you have the proper dip switches selected on the Dension unit so it knows what it is interfacing with.

I saw that. Thanks. It sounds like the install is different with the PCM, or Am I misreading something.

I don't think the install is any different since all you are doing is inserting the Dension unit in the fober optic loop and then setting the dip switches to tell it what config you have. The Dension website has all the manuals available for download.

I have already answered this the last time you asked it. By the way, kill the ALL CAPS when posting.

Okay. I see what you are saying. Can it go anywhere in the loop or does it have to be between specific components?

I would assume anywhere since it is basically like computers sitting on a network.

I think it is specific if you have a CDC. If you do not, then it can go anywhere in the loop. The easiest is where I installed mine (at the amp) based on previous readings from other installs.
