Default Fine day for a drive today ...

Got a bunch of busy work done around the house today, and I decided a just reward was a romp through the North Carolina countryside in "White Lotus" (my fiancee named my '99 996, and the name has kinda stuck despite the connotation to spindly little British cars). Temperature was in the 60's - warm enough to listen to Rush with the windows open.

Snapped this shot on the side of the road ...

Hope y'all had a similarly fun day!

Cheers,
-- Mike

Gonna be even better today!

Forecast in Raleigh, NC calls for a high of 69!

I suggest you jam Bob Dylan's Highway 61 Revisited for the drive.

Great way to spend a Friday

ZZ Top or SRV is how we roll in Texas. Heading to the Hill Country Thursday to try out the Twisties.

I'd rock out to any of the songs mentioned. In fact, I was kind of feeling the SRV vibe this morning. Might pull the rims off and clean them up to some Pride and Joy.

Ivangene: Yesterday was the first day in about a week that we had any meaningful sunshine. Despite that I still notived a few raindrops on the windshield shortly after I took that shot. The only saving grace is that the heavy rainfall means everything isn't covered in yellow pollen as much as it usually is this time of year.

You may have the only 996 with an in-dash 8 track player.

Pictures, please.

Default RE: Music for driving

True Story:
When I bought my 996 last year, one thing I neglected to check out was the operation of the frunk-mounted CD changer. Driving home from the purchase, I hit the button to see if it works (hoping there was a CD in there). Turns out the PO left 6 CD's in the thing! First song that plays: Cheryl Crow's "Steve McQueen". Cool song for driving! Now, that song always reminds me of huge grin on my face the first time I drove MY Porsche.

Great song by Cheryl Crow especially since S McQueen was a Porscge guy as well. Good choice.
