Default Which tires would you choose from this list?

1. Continental Extreme Contact DW for $800 shipped from Discount Tire Direct.
2. Continental SportContact 2 N2 for $745 shipped from friend in the tire biz.
3. Sumi III for $706 shipped from Tire Rack

Or just get 2 used Michelin PS1s for the fronts. My fronts were made in 2001...yikes. About $150 for 2 used ones made in 2008. The rears are okay for another summer.

Fronts are 225/40/18 and rears are 285/30/18.

I had NO love for my Continental SportContact 2 N2 at all.. Wore fast.. even for a 911.. got loud. Grip was ok... nothing great.

Sumi's are good for the $$

No experience with the Summer Tire Conti DW, I have the DWS all season on my Cayenne and they are EXCELLENT! But all seasons on a 911... nah!

If you car is a CPO, you may want an N rated tire to be safe.

I rode on Sumi III all summer, great tire. I am running 295 but not as wide as my Pilot Rib.

I dont like conti's very much, as they tend to get loud very quickly, since its the only N-rated tire, i would stick with the porsche approved rubber,

This must be the great winter of Rennlist "what tire?" threads...

OK I'll bite: Spend the $150 now on the Michelins to get the full life out of your rears and then buy the Sumis next fall - but only if you have real confidence in what you describe as "used" tires.

I just got the DW's....much better than my Khumo's by a million miles. So far so good!

Only downside for me is they didn't make 295/30/18...so I had to go to a 285...but the ride is nice and not even broken in the grip has been outstanding.

I'd normally ask what you're using them for, but of that list I would go with the Sumitomos.

get rid of those old tires.... my old tires with "lots of tread" did this to me... thank gawd it was the day after a track day and not going down the front straight as speed !!!

I learned my lesson - NO OLD TIRES

SUMI's

I've had no personal experience with the Contis, but know people that have not been very happy with them. I have worn out one set of Sumis and thought they performed much better than expected, especially at their price point. I ordered another set and installed them for the guy that bought my car. Talking with him months later, he's happy with them as well.

Sumis are a terrific street tire and I'm sure you won't go wrong with them. Contis are a maybe.

I'd be pissed if I got a CPO'd car with 9 year old tires on it!!!!

They do a 100+ safety check bringing the car to "like new" condition and leave 9 year old tires on it??!!! Unacceptable.

I have the DWs and they are pretty good, but would go with the Sumis (had them on my 951 and reallly liked them).
