Pay the two dollars. (Translation from an old vaudeville routine: Have Darin Fister do it). It will be done correctly and save you a lot of running around. My two cents.

If I had to redo it all over, I think I'll send the muffler to Fister, nothing beats a job well done by someone who knows what he is doing.

You can probably do it locally but why going through the probability of a dirty job.

I know it sucks to ship those heavy mufflers if you are not local

+1 on Darin. It's affordable, he's a total Porsche enthusiast and it is one of the cheapest things you can do to your car with probably the biggest smile factor.

Update: finally got it done. my local shop was able to bend a 1.75" 14G stainless steel tube and weld it on. they did MIG welding as opposed to TIG welding, but it looks fine. they also took the mufflers off and reversed the two bolts for me. happy with their service.

as for the sound, i'm a little disappointed. its about 10% louder than stock. at least the wife will be happy. i'll be more happy when spring comes and i can put my bypass pipes on for autox.

10%?

have someone else drive your car - or find a tunnel

for me the hack was significantly louder outside but not so much inside...in fact I often couldnt tell much differance just cruising about - then would hit some enclosed area and go - HOLY CRAP, those sound nice!

both me and my new muffler guy agree that it sounded louder outside than in.
i probably am just having a difficult time adjusting to sound without straight pipes which I had on my DD RX-8 for 3 yrs.
