Default Jan. 2011 M96 Engine Rebuild School

We have two remaining positions for the M96 101 engine rebuild school here at Flat 6 Innovations January 20,21 and 22. These classes are for everyone from an enthusiast to full professionals and we have a good mix of both and everything in-between in all the classes.

Charles Navarro and I host and instruct this class.. Each student that completes this class will leave our facility with the necessary knowledge to assemble an M96 engine to a "longblock" state, from start to finish. During the class a complete Flat 6 Innovations "updated engine" will be assembled (test engine)

All the details can be found here on our site, to include costs http://www.flat6innovations.com/clas...rebuild-school

To enroll follow this page to our online store. Once the remaining two positions are filled, the item will not show in inventory.

We typically have these classes booked months in advance, but this one had a couple of cancellations here at the last minute that we'd like to fill.

I have other classes coming up throughout the year, to include February, March and September. If interested, please contact us at info@flat6innovations.com
Here are some photos from previous classes:

Most of the class is presentation based, but each step is concluded with a practical application lab where the class actually assembles the engine as a team.

This is the Flat 6 Innovations Learning Center where we carry out the M96 101 Engine Rebuild School.

Looks like a great class. I attended the Woods/ Anderson engine overhaul class in the Bay areas years ago and learned a tremendous amount. I would love to take a m96 class!

Thats not far away... We have attendees from all over the US, most from over 1500 miles away.. I've had attendees from Australia attend in the past...

So you are basically local :-)

Jake do you have a list of shops in PA who have sent individuals to take your class?

I originally posted this under my Rennlist Sponsor username of "Flat 6 Innovations".. Somehow it reverted to my old personal account!! ODD!

Anyway, no attendees have came to us from Pennsylvania as of yet. By Spring of 2011 we'll have our full affiliate program in place and will be supporting shops across the country with bulletins, training and components for the M96 engine.

DVDs will come later, probably next year or maybe as late as 2013..
A DVD can't give you the feel for installing pistons into these engines using the actual tools. This is the part of the class thats worth enrollment all by its self since all the students get practice with piston insertion, pin alignment and wrist pin clip insertion.

That requires hands on, in my environment.. To date those who have taken the class have a 100% success rate with assembling engines and I don't know of anyone thats had an episode where piston insertion didn't go smoothly. I illustrate so many tricks that people leave here knowing what it takes and they have great confidence.

I agree with "hands on" is worth SOOOO much. As stated the piston instalation alone is pretty touchy feeley lookie lookie - we have had people say there is nothing special about doing these engines and unless you have seen the proceedures, tooling, checking, installing and alike you really have no business stating those points, even if you have done lots of "motor rebuilds"

I supply all tools...

Hammers aren't allowed in my shop!

The procedure to install pistons is not described anywhere in any manual correctly, things like using gravity to your benefit, proper use of the boroscope and what to look for with it and even how to dye components different colors to aid in visual recognition while under the boroscope are things that are priceless during assembly.

I learned it from doing it.. The first time I did it, I never dreamed I'd be teaching how to do it or certainly never dreamed that I'd be able to do it in the dark classroom with the boroscope attached to a projector while in front of a class of onlookers! In the September class I did the 4-6 bank of pistons in 35 minutes start to finish... My first time it took me 3 days to do it successfully by myself!
