Default Surface rust on brake hubs

I have a (new to me) 02 C2 and I have light surface rust on the brake hubs. It's something that I don't want to paint, but I need to clean and put on something that will seal and prevent oxygen from getting to the metal and rusting again. Obviously it also has to be able to handle the high temp of be brakes.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Larry

why don't you want to paint it?

A little primer and some matte grey will keep it from rusting but not look obtrusive.

cheapest and easiest solution, imho

Agree with Quad....

search user "gota911" for his DIY on painting them. Fast, easy, and should do the trick just fine.

Maybe a rust remover of a light solution of acid. Then zinc based paint. I'd use a paint that is primarily zinc instead of advertised to contain zinc. With current weather a blow drier, heat gun or just a heated garage would make it an easier job. I wouldn't go after the rust with sand paper. It would cause a loss of pores and roghness for the paint to stick to. I'm not sure if the original is powder coated but that's an option too that some rare cases aren't too $$$$ Just a thought on how to deal with it. I'd first ask the porsche dealers shop in my case since they don't BS me since they have plenty other cars for big bucks jobs.

light sand to remove existing rust and any dirt. Use blue 3M tape and protect the actual rotor portion of the discs. Then as Pac996 said zinc based paint.
Should look great.

These things are really easy to paint and will last quite a long time.

Well, for $3 or $4 and the same amount of time invested as changing the rotors, you could paint them.

Make sure you send me half of the money I just saved you so I can add that to my "Porsche Fund!"
