Los Angeles car lift rental?
Hi, guys.
Is there any place in the LA or Orange County area, preferably in or near Manhattan Beach, Torrance, Redondo Beach, or Hermosa Beach that lets you lift your car up for a fee?
I'd like to do some simple work on my 996 but am wary about using a couple of car jacks in order to do so, well, because I don't want to be crushed to death as I lie underneath my baby.

I lived in Manhattan & Redondo for 12 years & am not aware of any such place, but my solution is here:
HD jackstands from Pelican Parts are the best I've seen.

I can't seem to find the front ramps your 986 is on.....

The jacks are made by Ebsco & $ 69.95, ramps are made by Rhino sold at many autoparts stores. Both capable of 2X Porsche weight.

I hate to be negative, but I fail to see why using ramps and two jack stands is more safe than just putting the car up on four stands. If someone knocks the car out of gear and into neutral, (or fails to put it in neutral) that car could come down on you in a hurry. Use four jack stands, and if you still don't feel safe under the car, put a couple of the wheels you've removed, laying on their sides under the car at strategic points and i think you are safer than the solution shown in the picture.

But, I agree with the 4 jack stand idea.

All that said, I personally would not get under that car. It would be much safer with the car sitting on four jack stands.

What kind of Porsche do you drive? Want to check out each other's cars? I always love meeting other Porsche enthusiasts.
To everyone else: thanks for the replies and your help. Really nice folks on this site.
