I've been in that position twice -- both with a C2 Cab. Just lower the top, pop it in the rear seats (with a bag over it) and then try like hell to find the right make and size of tire.

I replaced the spare with a tire repair kit and 12v inflator.

Based on my experience with tire problems, a plug repair kit and a 12v inflator will solve your problems 99% of the time if you replace your tires when you hit the wear strips. The goop stuff will mess up your tires and rims and the tire guy will hate you.

I've done enough plugs that I can repair a tire in about 15 mins. (probably 5 mins if you could see the leak while on the car) Most leaks are from nails and screws.

Now hopefully I haven't jinxed myself talking about tires.

now that **** is funny....

cop pulls over to offer assistance,
cop: "what seems to be the trouble"
you: "flat tire"
cop looks at the rear flat tire as you are about to jack up the front of the car where he can see that tire obviously has air.....
cop: "alright, good luck with that" as he walks away thinking "dumb a$$ Porsche *****, doesnt even know which tire is flat"

Default What to do with flat tire

If you are alone, the flat tire could go in front seat with cover or bagged to not destroy or dirty things in the interior.....did that once...

Note: That Vredestein space saver in my C4S worked great.....went over 100 miles at 60 mph, no issues on the rear left wheel....flat was history.....hope I never have to use the one in my 993...

Having a spare is great.....my SL 65 AMG does not have one and I have to order from Germany as US MB dealers do not have access to the part as it officially did not come with that model car other than 2007 for one year only and none are available. Prices range from a total of $ 730 to $ 1100 for 19' custom space master spare... shipped various ways.....took me a whole week to find one in Europe - 15 calls altogether ....PITA.......glad Porsche uses them...

Pfft! Now we all know that stuff in p-cars isn't where it's 'supposed' to be - engine in the back for example.....

Seriously, I hadn't thought of this either. Anyone use the aerosol tire repair? It must work or they wouldn't sell it right? Right?

Did you measure the wheel with air or WITHOUT?

I used fix-a-flat once. Got me 50 miles to my destination, but left me stranded when I got there.

Just did the "rear-flat-tire-swap" thing. Had a screw ( heh, got screwed) that deflated the tire quickly, then blowout. Yes, take off front - move to rear - put spare on front.

It actually drove pretty well. Had to put 100 miles on it due to Sunday drive far from a city.

The scariest part was using a 10-yr old spare with a few cracks in the rubber. I am definitely getting a new one!

Yah good point. We should all check under the cover for serviceability of the tire. I only do a whimp hand push.

When I first looked at the prospect of a flat the back seat or seat all the way back with the tire on the passneger was my thought. Most likely the tires going on the front seat in line with the road using microfiber towels I keep in the car.

Oh, yeah...I was able to put the rear tire/wheel in the back seat with the seat-backs folded down. I had a passenger.

I had stashed a heavy, large "yard-style" garbage bag with the spare - worked perfectly to protect the interior. The passenger seat needed to be moved up quite a bit to get it back there.
