I am really enjoying this thread, but be careful just how glib you get. 3-4 years ago I wrote a similar thread talking (boasting) about how trouble free my car had been, no RMS, IMS, etc. etc. etc. Within the next year or so I had to do the RMS and the clutch, then 8 mos. later I had an intermix, which I fixed. Still love my car and it has been pretty darn good in general, but some of the things people talk about ended up happening. And when I had the intermix pretty much everyone told me I had no choice but to replace the engine. Well for about $750 in parts, $500 to fix the cracked head, and 20-30 hrs. of my time I was back on the road and now have over 9,000 miles on the fixed engine with no problems.

I also solved the "best oil" issue. Since the car holds so much oil, I just add 1 quart of each one of the different brands and weights of oil everyone swears by until full. I sleep better at night knowing I have all the bases covered.
LOL.

My car refuses to stay clean! I wash it and then a few days later it's dirty again and the mileage has gone up! What's up with that?

Doug.....

Glib? Nay! We're having fun here because we choose not to be paranoid, and because we're optimists and Porsche loyalists .

This thread is a respite for people who are tired of the now constant moaning/groaning about IMS, RMS, cheap plastic parts in the interior, fried egg headlights, oil types, blah, blah, blah.

We're celebrating the good things about our cars - performance, looks, comfort, and well....you know what I mean because your affection for Porsches is quite evident.

Well I just drove from Atlanta to Lexington, KY to Bristol, TN to Columbia, SC and back to Atlanta and then did a DE at Road Atlanta, +/- 1000 miles, and other than the damn Fuel and Tire problem (track keeps wearing them out!) everything seemed to work fine. Damn 996's

To be serious here for a moment, I'm having a strange issue:

I point my center cap crests to the tire valves, drive, and when I get home, I notice the crests have rotated somehow, and are NOT pointing to the valves!?

I may have to sell the car!

You need the ceramic bearing center cap upgrade kit.
